Christmas 2026 falls on a Friday, Dec 25. From a US warehouse, the last day to ship coast-to-coast ground (UPS, FedEx, and USPS Ground Advantage) is Thursday, Dec 17. USPS Priority Mail must ship by Friday, Dec 18. The final cutoffs are FedEx and UPS 2 Day on Tuesday, Dec 22 and Overnight on Wednesday, Dec 23. Military and USPS international shipments go much earlier, starting Wednesday, Nov 4.

What's Different About Holiday Shipping in 2026
Christmas moved from Thursday to Friday. In 2025, the last delivery day before Christmas was Wednesday. In 2026, UPS and FedEx deliver on Thursday, Dec 24. That extra business day moves many cutoffs one weekday later than last year. Carrier cutoffs you remember from 2025 may now be a day earlier than you need.
The final shipping week is only three days. After the Dec 19 to 20 weekend, only Monday, Dec 21 through Wednesday, Dec 23 remain. Nearly every express and next-day cutoff lands in that window, which is also when carrier networks are at their fullest.
Weekends don't count as ground transit days. UPS and FedEx Ground don't count Saturday, Dec 19 or Sunday, Dec 20 toward transit time, and neither do most international carriers. A 5-day ground shipment that leaves after Thursday, Dec 17 will likely miss Christmas.
Peak surcharges are in effect. UPS and FedEx both run demand surcharges from late October into mid-January, with the highest rates from the week of Thanksgiving through Christmas. Upgrading a late order to air costs the most in December, so planning for ground is the cheapest way to hit the deadline.

"Local" means the customer is 1 business day of ground transit from the warehouse. "Coast to Coast" and "National" cover the longest ground transit, up to 5 business days.

Shipping from Rush Order's warehouse in the Netherlands to the EU and beyond. Several EU countries, including Austria, Czechia, and Poland, don't deliver on Christmas Eve, which is why the "Farthest EU" dates are earlier. How to Hit Every Holiday Shipping Deadline in 2026
Carrier cutoffs are only half the story. An order can't make a carrier cutoff if it isn't picked, packed, and on the truck. Here's how the brands we work with plan peak season:
- Get inventory in early. Aim to have holiday stock received and available to sell before Black Friday (Friday, Nov 27). Warehouse receiving slows down in December for everyone, so late inventory costs you selling days.
- Know your warehouse cutoff time, not just the carrier's date. An order released after a warehouse's daily cutoff ships the next business day. On Wednesday, Dec 23, that can be the difference between Christmas Eve and Dec 28.
- Post your deadlines on your site. Add a banner or checkout message with your last day for free shipping, your last day for expedited shipping, and your last day to order for Christmas. Clear dates cut down on "where is my order" tickets.
- Stop promising ground before the carriers do. Set your "order by" date for standard shipping a day or two before the carrier's cutoff so your own processing time fits.
- Offer an upgrade window. From Dec 18 to Dec 22, promote paid 2 Day and Overnight shipping to customers who missed ground. Many gift buyers will pay for it.
- Split international orders early. Cross-border shipments need customs time that carrier dates don't include. Treat the international cutoffs above as the latest possible dates, not targets.
- Plan for returns now. Holiday return windows usually run into January. Make sure your return policy, labels, and restock process are ready before the returns arrive.

Why are some 2026 holiday shipping deadlines later than in 2025?
